More than forty years ago, when Wesley Chapel was a much quieter place,
Halloween at the Warlock House was already becoming something of a local legend.
Artist Lewis VanDercar, once known around town as the âWarlock of Wesley Chapel,â had a gift for bringing imagination, humor, art, and a little bit of the unexpected wherever he went.
His home was no exception. Built as much as a work of art as a place to live, the Warlock House became a world of sculpture, stories, nature, curiosity, and wonderfully peculiar details.
And when October arrived, a place called the Warlock House could hardly let Halloween pass unnoticed.
Throughout the 1970s, Lewis, his family, and the property became part of the local Halloween spirit, with tricks, treats, unusual surprises, and the kind of playful imagination that made a visit here feel a little different from anywhere else.
Over the years, Wesley Chapel grew. Roads changed.
Families changed. Trees grew taller.
Stories became memories.
But the Warlock House remained.
And this October, Halloween is coming home.
For the first time in a new generation,
the gates of the Warlock House Enchantment will open for a
month of Halloween experiences inspired by the same
spirit of creativity, curiosity, humor, and peculiar fun that has always belonged here.
On October 3rd, families are invited to join us for the very first Warlock Family Spookfest
âan afternoon of enchanted activity villages, curious characters, games, crafts,
live entertainment, Warlock House history and lore, Magic Tokens,
Warlock Apprentice Passports, food, vendors, and plenty of surprises along the way.
And once the sun goes down, another side of the property begins to emerge.
Throughout October, our Warlock House Statuary Night Tours will
invite guests to experience the property after dark, surrounded by sculpture, architecture, history, stories, shadows, and the strange beauty of the Warlock House at night.
These two experiences are very different, but they come from the same place.
This is not about turning the Warlock House into a conventional haunted attraction.
It is about bringing back something that feels much closer to Lewis VanDercarâs spirit
âimagination, art, storytelling, laughter, curiosity, history,
and just enough peculiar to keep things interesting.
So whether you arrive in costume with a little apprentice in tow,
or return after dark to wander among the statuary, we hope youâll come curious.
Halloween is returning to the Warlock House.
And we are very excited to share a little of the magic with you.
